Rent-My-Bike LLC started in the summer of 2012 by a Stanford bioengineering graduate student, Ton Subsoontorn, with the goal of providing low cost bikes to short term visitors or tourists in Stanford - Palo Alto area. Trying to look for cheap bike rental for his summer students, Ton found, to his surprise, that no bike rental place nearby could offer below $20/day - $80 /week rental rates. He then decided to rent out his extra bike for half of that price. Within less than a week, a number visitors contacted him asking if he has any more bikes. Seeing this as an opportunity to help these visitors getting around and experience beautiful (& HUGE) Silicon Valley, he began to accumulate more bikes and officially rented them out.
